Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

As their website says, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a leading charity which gives all young people the chance to develop skills for work and life, fulfil their potential and have a brighter future.
The picture above is two of the seniors from Clearly Speaking during one of their Duke of Edinburgh exercises in Derbyshire.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is recognised & valued by many people in the workplace, schools and colleges and has lots of well-known people who would encourage you to join in... see for yourself by clicking
here.
Charley Boorman said this about the Duke of Edinburgh Award:
“I think the skills learnt are a great building block for later life. The young people that get involved gain a great sense of achievement from completing the different sections and the Awards are a bonus on any CV, as well as being great fun to take part in!”
Hopefully you will now be asking “What do you have to do to achieve your Duke of Edinburgh Award?”
You will complete a personal programme of activities in four sections - Volunteering, Physical,Skills and Expedition - and if you go for the Gold Award you will also take part in a residential activity.
This might sound scary but it isn’t really :)
This
section of the Duke of Edinburgh website explains that YOU decide what activities you would like to do and this might be something that you are already involved with if you are interested then come into Clearly Speaking to talk to Stuart who will explain it all to you, answer your questions and - hopefully - get you started on your Duke of Edinburgh Award ‘journey’.
The Duke of Edinburgh sessions are going to be between 10:00 and 12:00 midday on every other Sunday when Clearly Cool Clubs run at Clearly Speaking in Buckingham, so the next few dates are as follows:
- 24th July
- 7th August
- 21st August and so on...
Now.. this bit is very important...
Apart from the Duke of Edinburgh sessions on ‘club days’ the young people participating will receive reminders and help to update their Duke of Edinburgh progress - so this isn’t just something to do every two weeks !
Young people MUST come to the sessions so that we can help you to record all of the work that you will be doing & to take part in training for things like map-reading & first-aid - and if people don’t attend then they won’t be ready for things like their expedition !
If you are interested then give us a call on 01280 824871 to book your place and we will see you soon.
Finally, thank you to Aiming High for giving us funding towards our Duke of Edinburgh activities.
